Owning Your Worth: I’m Betting on Me

In today’s fast-paced and competitive world, it’s easy to get caught up on the noise and the facade we see on social media and lose sight of your true worth. Comparison is the thief of joy and leads us on a rollercoaster of ups and downs. But here’s a secret that I find myself rediscovering often: you have more potential than you give yourself credit for. In 2024, it’s time to break free from self-doubt and start investing in yourself.

I believe the first step to betting on ourselves starts with giving ourselves grace. I am my own worst critic, often overly critical of myself and nitpicking over the smallest things. By giving ourselves grace, we learn to be kind, compassionate, and forgiving towards ourselves. It involves accepting our imperfections, mistakes, and shortcomings without being too hard on ourselves, which helps us recognize our own value. Recognizing our value leads to practicing self-care, self-compassion, and self-acceptance, all of which contribute to a healthier and more positive relationship with ourselves.

Next is trust. Believe that you have what it takes to achieve your goals and overcome challenges. Trust that you can learn and grow from any setbacks along the way. Trust pushes you out of your comfort zone to take risks and embrace uncertainty, even if it means stepping into uncharted territory. Remember, successful individuals didn’t reach where they are by doubting themselves. And if that doesn’t inspire you, take a cue from the 10-year-old girls I mentor. They fearlessly pursue whatever comes to mind. They are fearless and resilient! Rejection doesn’t deter them; they ask the next question and keep moving forward. Their motto is “positive vibes only,” and their positive mindset and faith in their abilities make them my role models on some days.

Lastly, surround yourself with supportive people. Find your tribe. This is an area where I feel I have succeeded! No one can achieve success entirely on their own. I am fortunate to be surrounded by a supportive group who believes in me and encourages my aspirations. Even though I thought starting a blog at over 50 was crazy, not a single person in my circle agreed. I am grateful to have a community of like-minded individuals. The right support system can offer guidance, motivation, and accountability as you journey towards success.

Betting on yourself will involve taking risks. There will be setbacks and failures, growth and learning, and disappointments that lead to transformation. However, you are the author of your story, and it’s time to write a chapter that highlights your worth and resilience. If you haven’t already, start today, and witness how your self-belief leads to remarkable achievements
